Time To Celebrate

This is perfect:
I hope you enjoyed your extra hour today!! For me, it could not have come on a better day ... post big run day!! I completely indulged in that extra hour of sleep! What a great way to start the day!

Today, we're looking back at yesterday's celebratory moments from the Virtual Sparkly Half Marathon!! Yeahhhhhh celebrations!!!

First, we have our players:
The woman is a perfect 10!! Ten Rockin'
Miles in the wee hours!! WAY TO GO,
Mary Kate!! Running. Partner.
EXTRAORDINAIRE!!
Me and my trainer and best, furry gal pal!
I wanted another Half this calendar year,
and now it's behind me! Whee!!
Fresh off of not having run for a few
months, she got out there, and cranked
out a 5K. I kind of hate her for being able
to do that WAY TO GO, PC#2!!
As you know, I routed the local legs of the Relay to end at a cupcake shop. It seemed appropriate given the official Sparkly Cupcake themes!! And, who doesn't want a built-in excuse to check out a mess of cupcakes??
PC#2 prioritized checking out the trick-or-treat bowl, too!
We saved them to eat when everyone was available to celebrate together last night ...

Side notes about the post-race indulgences: The swirly ones were for the young Crewers: marble cake with chocolate and vanilla icing. Those were quite good. Aaron got the triple chocolate, and I had the white wedding one ... both were, well, not so fresh. I guess we should have been tipped off by the Halloween-colored sprinkles on them. It seems they were a couple of days old. Boooooo, cupcake shop ! I'm drawing a line at having to advocate for myself and the freshness of my cupcake ! If you can't trust the cupcake shop, who can you trust ?? So, it was fun having this as our end point for the last two virtual runs, but, next time (oh, yes, there will be next times !! ), we're baking our own batch of deliciousness !

Hey, did you clearly notice that Elly was awarded the Spooky Cupcake medal? Check her out if you didn't:
I decided she has more than earned her wings (er, bling). If not for her, I'm not so sure I would have ever hopped on board this running gig. She is certainly the reason I continued so as to get to a point where I could go with or without her. Not to mention, she not only escorted me for my first three miles during the relay, but she also had the perfect bandana still on to match her medal. I can't think of a better reason to award her, can you ?!

When PC#2 saw Elly had a medal, she loved it but then went on to feel bad for her dad for not getting a medal when he did, in fact, escort her for her leg of the relay. I told her that that's not something dad particularly cares about. He chimed in with, "Um, I'm getting my own kind of medal for dinner. Pizza."

It's round, so it works for him.

Might I mention, we had our own recepticles:
Hers ...
And, His. Yeah, I went there ...
With that, we'll wrap up the celebration recap! Every accomplishment should be recognized in some way, big or small!! Find what motivates you, and enjoy your successes!! Steer clear of past-date holiday decorations on your cupcakes, though, just sayin'!
It's a couple of days off of running for me so I can recoup and regroup! That means tomorrow is another Rest Day!! Yeahhhh!! That's the way to start a Monday! Take the start of your week easy if you can, and I'll see you tomorrow!
