Super Hot. Super Gross.

Today’s Numbers: Nancy's Total Movement Mileage: 586.1 (running: 426.6; walking: 26.7; biking: 132.8) Money Found For Food Bank: $49.39

2,015 in 2015 Change Hounds progress: Nancy: 578.8 Aaron: 373.3 (b: 338.6; w: 34.7)  Elly: 126 Total: 1085.4

My temperature upper limit to take Elly on a run is 80 degrees. When Pit Crew #2 and I were heading out this morning, it was 78. As we planned a 3-miler, and as there was one eager-beaver dog smiling and wagging and pleading with her eyes to accompany us, I decided to take her.

I'm just saying that 78 degrees in the Summer with humidity is not the 78 of early Fall. Bleh.

It didn't take long for us to figure out strategies to best accommodate her, nor did it take Elly long to seek the ways she uses to keep herself as cool as possible. Namely, she likes running in the grass ...
"I also like the extra sniff time. The nose has to work out, too."
... and, very much the shade seeker, she took any she could find:
PC#2 and I walked through any patches of shade we could on our very sparsely shaded route, but it was a good break for Elly nonetheless. That hound was a champ through a pretty miserable morning:
"I am a champ!! Look at me gooooo!"
There's nothing in that picture that smells
good.
While I liked distracting myself from the beating we were taking by the sun by taking pictures of the pooch, I did not take one of the big ol' rat snake I discovered staring at me on the side of the road toward the end of our route. I was about 10 feet ahead of my other two girls and thankful to have seen it before Elly did. I realize the snake had no particular interest in us, but I didn't want Elly to instinctively lunge forward at it in investigation. Nope, not a fan of a possible confrontation on any level, I quickly turned and directed the duo to run a large half circle around the area to pass.

I probably should have taken a picture of just how big PC#2's eyes got when she saw it, though.

We made it home unscathed and ready for some cooling down ...
... as well as with prizes in my pocket:
Pit Crew #3 was pretty jazzed that I found the sandwich coupon.
He's all, "Thanks for running so I can eat stuff." Oh, and that
coin at the bottom? Yeah ... that's a dime. It's a bit shredded.
As the week works out, there are two days of rest on the books! Even though the schedule isn't ideal, it is planned, and that makes it all go a lot easier!! Enjoy every part of the rest of your Sunday, and I'll be checking in tomorrow ...!
