I probably should have given a heads up/fair warning before yesterday's post since I was so crabby. No need to read on gingerly as today's mood was muuuuuch better!

I wasn't really a fan of this, though:
It wasn't even 8 a.m. And, it's December 10th. What the heck? I have to admit it's a bit difficult to maintain a consistent Christmas spirit, much less even remember my birthday is right around the corner, when we have Spring-like temps. Just sayin'.

Ah, yes, my birthday is, in fact, just around the corner --> it's Saturday!! I will start it off with my girl and virtual running partner extraordinaire, Mary Kate, as that is our date for our virtual Cupcake Run!! You might remember that, apparently, it's National Cupcake Day on the 15th (who knew?), so, of course, someone made a cool medal and sponsored a virtual run to celebrate! As the 15th is a Tuesday, we opted for a weekend 10K to run together. Wahoo!!

So, that's coming but not before one more run with my pooch this morning. She wasn't as springy as she was yesterday, but that's due, in part, to her continued fear of what's coming:
She can't hear anything behind her without getting all freaked out about it, so, she tends to run along certain streets exactly the way she's pictured above. She makes note of going forward, but, for the most part, she's running looking backward. I guess if I can run looking down and to the side, she can do this as long as we don't run into anybody.
"Scary trucks! Scary trucks! Run like the wind, mommy!!!!"
Oh brother.

It was a good outing except for the fact that the last run in my shoes should have been a couple of weeks ago when I first felt that twinge of, "Oh, hey, my feet hurt, and I'm pretty sure it's because my shoes are worn out." Today was the last run for them, though. I sit here almost seven hours after finishing with feet that still hurt. So, that was that, and I headed out to get new kicks:
If Saturday's were a Glow Run, I'd be all set!
I would not normally get black shoes, but these fit and felt perfect. It was the only pair there. They were tucked alongside other styles and not obvious to anyone in a hurry. And, huge bonus, the underside of the toe area is reinforced, so the likelihood of my toe popping through or otherwise needing to use duct tape to stop is hole should all be off the table. They must have been waiting just for me. Anyway, the shoes were a must as there was no way I was running 6 miles in two days in my other ones. Mission accomplished!!

Our day's mission was also accomplished in good form. We found 93 cents, saw this ...
If the cone is going to be discarded, at least they had sense
enough to eat the very best part. You know: the very bottom.
... and, Elly looked so pretty along this stretch against the leaves ...
... that I really didn't care how much her thorough investigation was slowing us down!

And, to get ready for Saturday, I rest tomorrow! Have a great slide into your Friday, and I'll be checking in!
